Spring Break '13

Last week was my spring break. I didn't get to go anywhere like a vacation, but it was still nice to relax and not worry that much about going to school and I got to sleep in, so it was nice. Just a small note.."friend" probably refers to a different person every time. 

Here's a recap of my week :)

March -Friday

I still had classes on Friday, but afterwards I just spent it with different friends throughout the day. 

March 9-Saturday

In the morning I had to get everything and leave my dorm before noon. I left around 11:30AM and went to volunteer. I started a month ago, helping people prepare taxes.

We went to get food afterwards and then I had to pick up something for work the next day before heading home. I went to bed at like 9:30PM that day..after taking a two hour nap too. I guess I was really tired.

March 10-Sunday

I had work from 9:00AM-5:00PM, but I had some complications in the morning. Afterwards, I had dinner with my friend and her family (+her brother's friend). There was sooo much meat that kept coming for some reason. 

March 11-Monday

In the morning, I did all my financial aid for school. Afterwards I went to the doctors because I've been coughing for two weeks and it didn't seem to be getting better. My doctor said it was bronchitis and she prescribed me an inhaler and antibiotics. First time I ever got bronchitis..and first time taking antibiotics. After picking up the medication at the pharmacy, I went to my friend's house for a small gathering.

My friend's dad ordered us so much food :O There was only the five of us..and we were snacking throughout the afternoon too so we barely finished half of the food. The rest of the time we just watched 200  Pound Beauty and chatted about random things. 

March 12-Tuesday

I slept in until 3:00PM and just relaxed for a bit at home. Then I went to pick up some food and went to visit  my friend's college. I got there pretty late, but basically just hung out with different people and chatted. 

March 13-Wednesday

I stayed over the night before, so I was still there lol. I was supposed to have lunch at noon with a friend but I didn't really wake up for that.. and at 1:00PM my friend brought back noodles.

It was okay :O It wasn't even udon rofl..the noodles were flat. At 3:00PM, another friend came, so we went to pick her up and got gelato and coffee on the way back.. 

At 5:00PM we went to get sushi for dinner. It was so overpriced.. it was like $75 for those six rolls. 

After dinner, I left to go to my friend's house.

There, I experienced another first: homemade pho. Looks exactly like what you'd see at a restaurant :O Basically just chatted and relaxed for a while. It got late so my friend's dad gave me a ride home :)

March 14-Thursday
I was supposed to dye my hair today, but my friend ditched, so I just stayed home and read manga.

March 15-Friday
I had dimsum with friends at noon and we then went to the Apple Store because one of them needed to buy a new Macbook. After that we went to Sephora and I picked up a Hello Kitty roller perfume because it was cute and on sale :x Afterwards, some of us separated so my friend and I went to the library for a bit and then I went to CVS and picked up some new polishes. We then went to Nordstrom Rack, which just opened the previous day and I had so many things I tried on, but left with three items, which you can see in [this] post.

We tried the new hazelnut macchiato from Starbucks. It's quite similar to their caramel macchiato. After that,
I went back to my friend's campus with her because I promised someone else I'd visit and I also stayed over that night. The other friend and I just chatted and walked around campus; it was quite relaxing and entertaining.

March 16-Saturday
I had volunteer again in the morning with the tax prep. After that I went home and waited for my mom to get back so we could go shopping. We went to Macy's and she took forever trying on clothes...and only ended up buying one of them xD You can see what I got in [this] post (same as the one I posted on the previous day). I think this will be the last time I can shop in a while :(

March 17-Sunday
Last day of break.. I slept in until 5:15PM.. :x My friend came over for a bit with gifts :O He got me a Hello Kitty plush from a crane machine and nail polish that was on my wishlist..thanks!! We then went out to California Pizza Kitchen for his birthday (which is on Monday.) It was ironic how I was the one receiving gifts though.

It was my first time at CPK and I've heard their pastas were quite good, so I went with that. My dish was okay though.. I wasn't a fan of how the fettuccine was dry/hard ish. I tried some of my friend's kung pao spaghetti and I thought it was really yummy. After that I went back to campus.

Sooo that just about sums up my spring break for those who care to know how it went ;P Overall it was enjoyable. Now I'm back in school...blehh.

Shopping..again

Just like the title of the post suggests, I've been shopping again. Mainly for clothes and nail polish.. I ordered most of the nail polish, so I'll do a quick haul post when I get them. 

Friday I went to Nordstrom Rack for the first time because a new one just opened up on Thursday. It's basically just like a TJ Maxx or Marshalls to me. There was a lot of clothes that I liked, but I narrowed it down to three items:

I wasn't sure whether or not to get it, but bought it anyways because I wanted to expand my closet.

 It was either this or the black floral one..I really liked the color but my friend said it didn't go well with my skin tone :(

It was a bit too oversized for my taste..and this was an XS or S too. 

The next day, I went shopping with my mom. She's been nagging me about going shopping for a while now, so we finally went. We took a long time at Macy's, so we didn't get to go anywhere else.

I wasn't too sure about this one either because of the detail on the top near the collarbone area. It was also pricey, especially considering it wasn't that warm of a jacket. So my deciding factor was if it rang up cheaper than the tag then I'd purchase it...and it did!

For some reason I really like this jacket. The only thing I didn't like was that the arms were a bit stiff and the jacket is a tad shorter than I would like.

I think this was the first item I picked up and I fell in loveee and so happy it was in my size.

This was probably my favorite item from this post. It's a simple black dress but can be dressed up (to some extent) or down. The downside is that I hate having to pay full price for clothing and this one wasn't on sale.

I feel like half of the clothes are for more dressy occasions.. but that's okay I guess. Just hope I'd have the chance to wear them. Now, I'm so broke x__x

Shopping & My First Illamasqua Polishes

Last Thursday I went shopping with my friend and her cousin. It was really last minute, so I didn't expect to buy anything, but ended up spending a bit, whoops.

I got two shirts, earrings, nail polish, Tokidoki figurine, and a new wallet. Even though I did spend a bit, I got a pretty good deal for all of it.

JCPenney Sephora had select Illasmasqua shades on clearance for $7 each (compared to $14) so I sorta went all out and picked up the ones I wanted because I probably wouldn't get them otherwise. I liked Purity, but I gave it away as a present. 

I haven't been painting my nails that much lately because they keep breaking :( But once they get longer again, I'll post swatches again. I haven't even been painting it much lately either, but got back to it again last week.

Valentine's Day 2013

Happy (belated) Valentine's Day!! I've drafted this weeks ago, but never got the chance to publish it. So here it is!

The night before I made chocolate-dipped strawberries with my friend. We had trouble melting the chocolate at first, but it worked out in the end.

I had to wake up early in the morning to help my friend get roses for his girlfriend. Then I headed to work and had class afterwards. I only had one class yesterday, so I hung out with a friend for about an hour or so and then finally had time to take a nap.

Meanwhile my roommate came back from class and her friend came over and everything while I was asleep and I didn't even wake up to that.. >_< Then she woke me up because she made me ramen lol. I appreciate the effort, but I wish I got to sleep more because I wasn't ready to wake up.

Funny story of the day is that my friend received a bear and rose outside her door this morning and she was soooo convinced that I was the one who left it there even though I kept denying it.

Later on, I met up with my friend to get froyo because this place was offering rose flavored froyo in celebration of Valentine's Day. Sadly when we got there, the place was closed -__- So we grabbed dinner instead.

Got spoiled by everyone <3

I'll try my best to update more frequently.. there hasn't been much to post about ;__; I already have something else drafted so hopefully that doesn't take weeks to come out either.

Nemo & New Year's

Happy Lunar New Year, everyone! 

In the last entry I mentioned that there was going to be a big snowstorm on Friday and it was disastrous in some ways but rewarding because I got to spend time with friends as well.

So I went to visit my friend's school on Thursday night (school was canceled on Friday) and we just played Poker with a bunch of people.

To end the game, the three of us remaining decided to go all in.. and we won with two pairs!! ..Until our friend pointed out five minutes later that someone else had a flush.

We ended up staying up until 5:00AM just chatting randomly and listening to music. 

The next morning, we had to do laundry before heading home for CNY. The trains were scheduled to stop running at 3:30PM, so we had some time. We finished laundry stuff around 2 and lazed around for a bit. At 2:30PM, we decided to head out, but my friend's wallet was missing so we spent like 10 minutes looking for it. As we were crossing to street to the station, we saw a train leave.. and then found out the last train was at 3:00PM, and we got there at like 3:02PM -__- So we spent the next half an hour wondering what to do, whether to call a cab or not because there was a traveling ban at 4:00PM (so no cars were allowed on the road) so a cab probably wouldn't have gotten us home on time. Meanwhile, my mom was so angry at me for not being able to get home.

So we ended up going back to another friend's dorm to take shelter. At this point, the snow wasn't too bad..it was snowing a lot and snow was starting to build up.

When we decided that it was finally time to return to my friend's dorm, it was already 2:00AM..and it's normally a 10-15 minute walk. The snow was just so deep.. at some point we took a road that nobody else had even taken and the snow was knee high x__x We got back half an hour later, cold and wet. Relaxed in the lounge until 6:00AM watching shows like Arrested Development and Phineas and Ferb..and random YouTube stuff. 

The next afternoon.. we went outside to play for a bit :D!! People made a bunch of igloos outside.

My boots are ruined from the past two days T__T;; At least it kept me warm.. I seriously need waterproof boots.

Lastly.. we had our ghetto New Year's Eve dinner. Chinese takeout, which took an hour to deliver D:

Then my friend and I got picked up and went home for New Year's the next day ^^ I basically just slept in the whole day.. I have school tomorrow :\

So Far into the Semester

Well here's an update of school/my life. It's a really long post, so I dunno if anyone's actually going to read through it lmao.

My sleep schedule is messed up as usual lol. I've been sleeping so late again, so it's hard to focus in class..especially since they're usually all back to back, so I get no break in between. Yesterday I had a writing assessment for my management course, and it was at 8:15AM when normally class is at 9:30AM..and I couldn't even focus at all because it was so tired lmao. I don't think I even did that well because my ideas didn't really fit what the assignment was asking and I rushed to cut down my writing to one page, so I had to take out a lot/didn't have time to go over it to add more important points.

My classes this schedule have me a bit worried about my grades T__T;; They're sorta more challenging.

Management: It's getting more specific and the lecture slides aren't really helping because I can barely answer any questions when I get quizzes. 

Statistics: It's so confusing T__T I've never taken stats before and I feel so lost when I'm doing the assignment. I understand it after we go over it.. but I feel like I should at least know how to do it and just make a small mistake or something, but nooo it's just all so confusing. I got a 4/4 on my first quiz though, but they're all pop quizzes, so they're all going to catch me off guard.

Calculus: I can't really tell if this class is going to be easy or not lmao. The material seems relatively easy, but the homework is sorta hard and my professor goes through the lectures really quickly, so sometimes it's hard to follow. I had my first test last week, and I think I aced it, but I'm not sure yet. I'll be getting it back on Monday. Usually the first test is always easiest too though lol.

Accounting: Ehh. I can't tell if this will be challenging or not. I had an exam this week and I thought I did really well, but I can never be too sure about this one. Some people were discussing it and were saying they got something different than what I did..so kinda made me lose my confidence lmao. It's a bit confusing though. 

Education elective: Errm. I have to do a case study on someone for this course.. soo I dunno how that'll go lmao. I hope I do well though.

I've submitted my application for my school's Honor's Program last week :) Aside from other application processes, my GPA is definitely a huge one that can easily disqualify me. There's a minimum GPA requirement, so if I do poorly this semester then there goes all my chances/efforts. 

Other updates:

The Northeast is supposed to get this HUGE snowstorm on Friday. They're estimating up to two feet o_o One source even said 33.5" wtf! Sooo I'll see how it goes. I'm supposed to attend this event though, but if there's going to be a huge snowstorm, I dunno if it's going to be a very smart idea.

Chinese New Year's is coming up this Sunday, so I'll be heading home for the weekend. Lately I think I've been bonding well with my family ;o Somewhat. I need to work on my dad though because our relationship isn't really that good (on my part.) I've been talking to my mom a lot more..and lately been trying to reach out to my brother, but I think he hates me lol. I need to come up with some ideas for New Year's nails.. my nails haven't been doing so well lately.. for the past three weeks it's been breaking a lot. 

Oh yeah I went shopping earlier this week, so hopefully I can do a post on that. I didn't really buy much, but it feels like it's been a while since I've gone shopping.. since Black Friday. I don't even have anywhere nice to take photos though :T

I have work super early in the morning, so I should sleep.. or catch up on my reading..gah the decisions. I feel like I have more to write but I don't want this to be a longer post than it already is xD

The Break Up.

Two weeks ago the (now-ex)-boyfriend and I broke up. In the beginning, I was kinda sad, but now it just feels like something of the past already because life moves on..and so does mine. 

We've been through a lot together and made a lot of memories: gone to new places, tried new things, spent a lot of time together, etc. I can only speak for myself when I say this, but they will always be things that I will miss and I will treasure the memories. I don't mean just closing a chapter of my life and leaving it behind; I'll still reread it from time to time instead of vaguely remembering that such a thing ever existed. They weren't all good memories though, so it's a bittersweet thing. Of course, that doesn't mean I'll wallow in the past; I'll look at what's in front of me. :)

At this point, I don't really think we'll cross paths again. I mean, only time can tell though. I do think it's a shame that all the time we spent means nothing but memories, because now we're just strangers, who care nothing for each other, already treats the other like s/he doesn't exist, and throwing everything away, as if this relationship is something we want to erase from our lives as if it never happened. We walked into each others' lives, became "everything" to each other, and then walked away like we were never there. Then again, I guess that's pretty normal...since a lot of couples aren't even friends after breaking up.. and there's close friends who drifted off. But whateverrr, it's a shame, but that's life.

My friends have stuck with me through all this, and I'm incredibly lucky to have them :D <3 They've listened to me complain and rant, kept me company, and are really understanding, soooo I'm really glad to have them :) They know who they are. 

But rest assured, I'm not putting on a strong front because I really do think I'm okay and I'm satisfied with the direction my life is going right now :D
