The Avengers

I went to watch The Avengers two weeks ago.. so this is another belated post. I bet many of you have already watched it already.. because practically everyone went on the opening night or the following few days.

Everyone raves about this movie, but was it really so good? I personally thought it was okay. I liked the movie and found it interesting, but that's about it. It was a bit cheesy at times and quite predictable.

I watched it in 3-D, but right at the beginning of the movie, one of my contacts came off because my eyes were dry (I was trying to take a nap...) so I guess that affected how I watched the movie because none of it looked 3-D to me. It was like completely flat. I tried covering that eye with my hand but it didn't work lolol. So yeah, wasted my money for the 3-D part that I couldn't even see ):

Has anyone else watched The Avengers? Thoughts?

Last Day of High School! :)

Finally on Friday was my last day of school. I was on the verge of getting held too, which means I still have to go back to school while everyone's out. I had tardy detentions that I had to make up up until the very last week of school..and then on Tuesday, I was given a letter which said I had too many absences :x Luckily I was able to fix that by changing one of my absences into a present day for a college visit.
Ramen in school :)

So our class decided to do a senior prank. On Thursday night, there was a mass text sent out where they wanted us to set our phone's alarm to 8:30AM and leave them in our lockers. I thought it was kind of silly, since it was in the middle of 1st period, so not like anyone will hear it if the classroom doors were closed.. and senior lockers are only in parts of the school, so not like the entire school will ring.

When it was 8:30, I totally forgot about it and suddenly the hallway just went a bit noisy. The lockers were actually opened up and the phones got confiscated. LOL. So sucks for them :(

Fifth period we had an assembly..I fell asleep halfway through though x__x And afterwards we all took a class photo outside of the school, which took about 10 minutes since it was hard getting everyone's face to show. When the photo was done, we had a class picnic out in the courtyard :)
I got an Italian cold cut along with chips, soda, fruits, and cookies.

We basically just took a bunch of pictures outside and just chilled. Halfway through, someone (or maybe me) changed the settings of my camera to widescreen, so all the picture sizes were pretty small ): Grrr...

I had to go to work afterwards...and then when I got off of work, I went to eat with the family and my brother's girlfriend's family.
Wonton soup

Then I went to watch The Dictator. I fell asleep for the first 10 minutes or so...so I missed some of the beginning. But overall it was a very funny movie. The plot was kinda eh, but it can definitely get some laughs out of you if you go watch it :)

Other randoms during the week:
A parent at my work gave us these fried green peas :o They're like the wasabi peas minus the wasabi.
Free humus...they were passing it outside the train station. I didn't know that you had to refrigerate it (even though it says it clearly at the front) so I left it out for a day and it went bad. :(

Well that's all for now :)

Summer Internship

I just got notified that I got the job that I applied for :D!! It's the same job that I did last year, except I might be in a different location and different department. Nevertheless, I'm happy that I was able to get it. This is like the only good thing that has happened lately..so I really hope that everything else will get better.

18th Birthday

Another birthday post :D Focusing on the actual day itself.

The boyfriend came over right before it turned 12AM with my presents yay :D I got 2 Starbucks gift cards, because I decided to start collecting them for the designs :)
...and inside it's a Fujifilm Instax mini 25 & Hello Kitty film!! I've been wanting one for over a year and decided half a year ago that if I can save up enough then I'll get myself one, but in the end I started spending even more, so.. -__-
Unboxing it.. :) Inside it includes a camera, two CR2 batteries, a strap, and a close up lens.

Then later I went to school and had a math test. I studied for it, but totally bombed it. After school, I have work from 3PM-9PM :( So I couldn't go anywhere..but on my way to work, I spoiled myself with:
I spent $9, $2 for the lottery tickets and $7 for the scratch tickets. I won $5 from the scratch tickets, so not too bad. I swear I won't get addicted, maybe for like a year (in moderation) but only so I can abuse my privilege :) The numbers came out last night: 3 11 22 34 49 Megaball: 1 So I didn't win anything :(

Then at about 4:30PM, a few of my friends from school came to surprise me at work & sung happy birthday to me yayy! And they brought me food<3
Eel sushi, spicy seafood sushi, & some sort of fish one that I didn't eat.
Mouse cake LOL. Its face is demented xD

After work, I went to hotpot at Shabu Zen with my mom and boyfriend. My brother and his girlfriend came after we finished eating.. but we ordered a bit more for them, since they already ate they weren't that hungry anyways.

Then the next day I had my AP Economics test...which I totally slept through UGHH. Coffee did not help. :( Afterwards, I went to Michaels to buy some art supplies and went to celebrate with the boyfriend. We went to a small restaurant called Pikaichi for ramen.
Miso ramen
Had froyo afterwards... Cookies n Cream (covered in the bottom) and Thai tea :D The Thai tea didn't taste like Thai tea though.
A day late, but Strawberry cheesecake <3

And to show off...here's the rest of the things I received :D

The Body Shop bath set from my brother's girlfriend...which was awfully kind of her, especially considering I just met her & my own brother didn't even get me anything lol.
Hello Kitty shirt :D I'll probably wear it to work out or something. The back has like square holes :o
Cupcakes...which got ruined by the time I got home :\
Variety of novelties. Shot glasses, mustache bandaids, card, & Urban Outfitters nail polish in Afterhours. The polish is a very fine, multi-colored glitter polish. I'll do a better close up and such when I wear it :)

Anyways, that's all for now! I appreciate everyone who remembered and said happy birthday and such. I guess I should get some sleep...it's like 5:30AM and I need to wake up in a few hours :(

I'm legal!

Yay, I just turned 18 (: Which comes with its pros and cons, I suppose.
Pros:
- buy certain things legally (scratch tickets, lottery tickets, cigarettes, etc.)
- open my own credit card
- sign my own papers
- vote
- easier at finding jobs that are 18+
- drive whenever I want

Cons:
- do a lot of things without getting into trouble.. (ambiguous)
- more expected to be responsible for myself :(

Okay I'm sure there's more cons, but at least I have more "privileges" now.

Here are the nails I did on Monday.

I used one coat of Sally Hansen Jumpin' Jade as the base color and topped with it two coats of Love & Beauty Green.

Love & Beauty is from Forever21's line of cosmestic stuff. I originally saw NYX Enchanted Forest from Mimi's post [here] and saw that Love & Beauty had a dupe and I don't have access to any NYX cosmetics here..nor am I willing to order online. Then a few days later, I met up with a friend at Forever21, so the first thing I thought of was the polish, so I went to look for it and found it! :) It's only $2.80.

I tried it a few days later. At first I was a bit disappointed because the glitter is very sparce with the first coat and my favorite part about the polish was the bigger hex glitters,  but it was difficult to get even one out. I applied two coats of Green and I got one hex glitter if I'm lucky. But after a while, I thought that it's not as bad as I think because two coats is just perfect and sometimes polishes have way too much glitter. It has a jelly base, so it's not exactly clear, but it makes everything better :) You can also see like these lines on the hex glitters, I dunno why. From far away all the glitter is holographic though. Overall I'm happy with Love & Beauty Green, just a tad disappointed that it's so hard to get all the glitters on.

Small Haul from the Mall

Last Monday I went to the mall after work because I had some things to return. Someone from A&F tried to recruit me lol, so I'll take that as a compliment. Anyways, since I was there, I decided to look around for clothes (:

First I got two tops from Charlotte Russe.
Pink dolman top $10
I know it looks orange in the pic, but the lighting was bad. It's actually a rosy pink color. It's a size bigger because I couldn't find my size, but I put it in the dryer hoping to shrink it. I forgot to hang it up again so now it's wrinkly. :x I have to iron or wash it again..
Ruffle tank top $10
I needed two items for the 2 for $20 promotion, and I originally just picked this as a filler that I'd hopefully like and after trying on, I liked it a lot! It'll look nice paired with a cardigan.

Next, I discovered a store called Love Culture. It was like a cuter version of Forever21, with the prices about the same but less selection. Everything started to look very similar after a while but in different colors. I went to the fitting room with a bunch of stuff and only came out with one top that I like.
White Kimono Top $10.95
I tried on a blueish one at first, but the color just didn't seem right and thought it'd look better in white. By then it was already time for the mall to close so I had to rush to change back and ran to grab this in white.
I'm actually debating whether to keep this top or not because I don't like how if I lift my arms, there's like nothing covering the rest of my body, but nothing a tank top can't fix, I guess..or just don't lift my arms. Plus their return policy is only exchanges or store credit, so ehh..

Finally, this is a top from a separate shopping trip when I was in Arizona. I went to Flagstaff Mall & The Marketplace and the store is California Girlz. They had so much NYX make up/nail polish there! It's a shame that tax was so high there :\
Beige semi-asymmetrical cold shoulder top $16.41 w/tax.
I was debating between this and a darker color. This one was borderline too share compare to the latter, but I liked this one more, so :)

Anyways, that's all for now. I still have to upload/post the ones from all those online orders I made last month :|

Pink & Black Polka Dots

Here's my mani from last week. I didn't take it til like a week later and just took it off, so yeah it looks really gross and it's sorta chipped/worn down.
The base color is Revlon Peach Petal and I used Wet n Wild Black Creme for my dots.

I just finished a new mani, so I'll post that in the next day or two :)

Frustrated.

I really hate it when people are so unwilling to compromise. We all have our own values, but they're not everything. If one person isn't willing to compromise, then it's only common sense that they should expect the same from me.

A lot has happened in the past year, but everything is so fragile because they're so easily forgotten or thrown away. But I guess that's fine because I'll be starting a new part of my life in the next 3 months, so I should just take this time to get over everything and get myself together. I'm at the point of my life where I'm so ready meet new people as leave behind a lot of people who I'd rather not concern myself with, and luckily for me, the timing is just right. If my existence to others are so insignificant to others, then there's no point in crying over it and instead I should just get over myself.

I don't believe in changing for others and you should only do it for yourself, so I appreciate everyone who can understand me and don't criticize me over every other flaw. Instead, the ones who I'll stand by are the ones who can accept me as I am.

Birthday Parties

It's almost 3AM and I can't sleep :\ I have my AP Calculus and AP Chinese test tomorrow too..

Anyways, my birthday is coming up next week and I was thinking about how usually when you're younger or around my age, people have those birthday gatherings where like 10-20 people come over to your house and eat and have fun and whatnot, but I've never really had that except one instance where I invited a friend over for my birthday in the 5th grade. But I'm talking about the bigger gatherings.

It sort of makes me sad that I've never had any of them and I actually still want one..but I feel like this year's like my last year to have one. I mean technically I can still have one for years to come...but it's just not the same and not as nostalgic. It won't be as innocent or childish (in a good way) anymore.

Well, this was just sort of something I wanted to rant about for a while now :\ I'll try to study a bit and go to bed before it really does get too late.

Physics Project: Flashlight

This is probably the most challenging science project I've ever had. As simple as it sounds, due to my lack of creativity, I spent hours building a flashlight for my school project. Here's the final outcome:
It works if you push it from the bottom, but I couldn't get it to meet one of the requirements: to be able to stay on. It can only stay on if I keep pushing the button. It's not very physically appealing either lol, but I needed a way to get all the pieces to stay.

I used mold putty to create the shape to keep the batteries and wire together. But I made a slit on it to take out the batteries, which ended up being too big and the slit got bigger, so I folded the entire thing with aluminum foil so nothing would fall out. Afterwards, I wrapped it with cling wrap to keep the foil together and also the battery from falling off. And TADAHH! There you have it, my fail flashlight.

China Glaze: Electric Beat

Electric Blue is from China Glaze's Spring 2012 Electropop collection. I would describe the color to be a blue that's leaning towards periwinkle, but without many hints of purple, if that makes sense.

This is one of the polishes I picked up from one of the stores in Pacific Mall back in February when I went to Canada. I haven't had a chance to swatch it until now.

It was a bit streaky for my first coat, but nothing a second coat didn't fix. I only applied two coats and this picture if from 2-3 days after applying it. I used OPI Nail Envy as my top coat, so it might not be as shiny as it could be with another top coat.

Galaxy/Nebula Nails

Last week I finally tried doing a nebula mani. It didn't really turn out as well as I wanted to, but I'll definitely try again to improve :)
I guess overall, my colors were a bit too "concentrated" everywhere, so there needs to be more spots that aren't as opaque. We'll see in the future though :)

For this mani, I used a lot of polishes even though half of them were similar colors. Here's the colors I used in the order I applied them :)

OPI Nail Envy | Sally Hansen Complete Salon Navy Baby | NYC French Tip White | Milani Morning Sunshine | Revlon Scented Not So Blueberry | Wet n Wild Spoiled Shrimp on the Barbie | Sally Hansen HD Blu | China Glaze Blue Year's Eve | Wet n Wild French White Creme | NYC White Lights Glitter | Wet n Wild Hallucinate | Warpaint Beauty Mattify

Theft through Hypnotism

Lately there's been a lot spreading around where a woman was hypnotized by three other women where they approached her and began talking to her. Then they blew something in her face and handed her a plastic bag and she went home and filled it with $160,000 along with jewelry. The next day she met up with the three women to hand them the stuff and when she went home or something, she finally snapped out of the hypnotism.

As bizarre as this sounds, I heard that this is actually pretty old news (but new to where I live) and it happens a lot in New York and other places. It happens in China a lot too (or so I've heard recently.) Sooo who knows if it's actually true. I guess you never know until it happens to you or people who you are close to.

What do you guys think?

17 More Days!

I only have 17 more school days left :) I have two of those days for AP tests and I'm taking four tests. Unfortunately I have two scheduled each day, so I'll be stuck testing for hours :(

Even though there's only about three weeks left, I'm still crammed with lots of homework and projects. I still have a bunch of things that I have to make up and turn in :( Currently I am reading Where Men Win Glory by Jon Krakauer for one of my classes. It's about Pat Tillman and the war in Afghanistan. So far (14 chapters later) it's been a pretty interesting read, mostly the parts about his life since I like reading those sorts of things. It's an easy book to read as well, something that you can pick up and keep reading, and it's somewhat educational as well :)

Anyways, I can't wait til school is over so I can sleep in for a while before I start working at a summer job, which I'm still waiting to hear back from.

Small nail polish haul:
Nabi: Teal 86, Magnetic 47-300, Star Glitter 47 | Sinful Colors Show Me White 101 | WetnWild French White Creme 449C, Black Creme 424A
I got the Nabi nail polishes at a supermarket in Arizona. They were $1.99 each except for the magnetic one which was $2.99. I'm not sure if it was cheap or not for Nabi polishes, because I saw on some blogs where it was like $4.99 each and another where it was like $1 each. The Sinful Colors were on sale last week for $0.99 and WetnWild $0.99 stuff were for $0.69 last month. I needed more whites since all mine were thick and gross and I don't have a thinner, which I still need to go buy. But I'm not sure what's a good one.

Anyways, I'm still editing pictures for my next Arizona post, I'm like 75% done!
